FAQ

Image Watermark questions, answered

Why watermark images at all?

For deterring casual theft of original photography or design work that you share online. Visible watermarks won't stop a determined attacker (a few minutes of cloning will remove them), but they do stop accidental reposting, social sharing without attribution, and AI scraping into training sets.

How big should the watermark be?

For deterrence, big enough to read clearly but not so big it ruins the image — 3–5% of the shorter side, opacity around 60%, positioned in a corner is the standard. For maximum protection, scale up to 6–8% and consider a diagonal centre watermark — uglier but harder to remove.

Can I upload my own logo as the watermark?

Not yet — this version supports text only. Image-logo watermarking is on the roadmap. For now, an attribution string like "© Your Name 2026 · yoursite.com" covers most use cases.

Will the watermark look the same on all my images?

The size is calculated as a percentage of each image's shorter side, so it scales proportionally. The position is consistent — bottom-right is bottom-right on every image regardless of aspect ratio.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The Canvas API draws and re-encodes everything locally. DevTools → Network will confirm — your images never leave the browser.
