Why social previews matter

A great social preview can lift your click-through rate by 40% or more.

When someone shares your link on LinkedIn, Slack or WhatsApp, the preview card is the entire first impression. A blurry image, truncated title or missing description means people scroll past. Get it right and every share turns into traffic.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Open Graph?

Open Graph (OG) is a set of HTML <meta> tags that tell social platforms how to display your link. They control the title, description and image that appear when someone shares your URL. Without them, platforms fall back to scraping whatever content they can find on your page — which usually looks poor.

Why does my image not show on Facebook?

The most common causes: the image is smaller than 600×315px, the image URL is relative rather than absolute, or Facebook has cached an old version. Verify your og:image tag here, then use Facebook's Sharing Debugger to force-refresh their cache.

What's the perfect image size?

1200×630 pixels is the safe universal size that works on Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Slack, Discord and iMessage. Pinterest is the exception — it prefers 1000×1500 (portrait). Use a JPEG or PNG under 5MB.

Why does X (Twitter) truncate my title?

X truncates titles at roughly 70 characters in the card view. This tool shows the exact length and flags overruns. Facebook is more generous at ~100 characters, LinkedIn at ~200.

Do I need separate Twitter and OG tags?

No — X falls back to OG tags when the Twitter-specific ones are missing. You only need both if you want different content on X versus other platforms, which is rare.

Is this tool really free?

Yes — completely free, no signup. The previews and validation have no limits. The AI Score has a generous hourly limit to keep costs sustainable. Built and maintained by SEO First Web.
